La réalisation de biopsies hépatiques est une étape importante dans l’évaluation d’un animal atteint d’une maladie hépatique. Les indications sont nombreuses et il est possible à partir du matériel obtenu de réaliser des examens complémentaires variés : analyse histologique, dosage du cuivre, bactériologie, recherche de toxiques. L’analyse histologique a pour but de caractériser l’affection hépatique et d’en préciser la sévérité, d’identifier la cause, et d’apporter une valeur pronostique. Elle permet également de contrôler l’efficacité d’un traitement ou d’évaluer l’évolution de la maladie et de la fibrose.

Abstract

Performing liver biopsies is an important step in evaluating a patient with liver disease. The indications are numerous and it is possible from the material obtained to carry out various additional examinations: histological analysis, copper assay, bacteriology, toxic research. The purpose of histological analysis is to characterize the liver disease and to specify its severity, to identify the cause, and to provide prognostic value. It also makes it possible to monitor the effectiveness of a treatment or to assess the evolution of the disease and fibrosis.
