Prise en charge d’un carcinome épidermoïde de la truffe par cryothérapie chez 2 chats

La cryothérapie est relativement peu utilisée en médecine vétérinaire. Elle apparaît pourtant comme un acte simple, peu onéreux et effi cace pour la prise en charge de tumeurs cutanées du fait de l’effi cacité, de la précision et de la quasi-absence de douleur.
Résumé
Deux chats sont reçus en consultation pour une ulcération de l’aile du nez, plus ou moins marquée. Les examens cytologique et histologique ont confirmé, dans les deux cas, l’évolution d’un carcinome épidermoïde. La prise en charge a été réalisée par projection d’azote liquide au spray ouvert de cryothérapie. Une rémission est observée pour l’un des chats et une amélioration clinique de 8 mois est notée dans le deuxième cas.
La cryothérapie semble être une bonne option dans la prise en charge des tumeurs cutanées localisées, en particulier les carcinomes épidermoïdes en traitement curatif ou palliatif.
Abstract
Two cats were presented for consultation with varying degrees of nasal wing ulceration. Cytological and histological examinations confirmed the presence of squamous cell carcinoma in both cases. Treatment was performed using liquid nitrogen spray cryotherapy. One cat achieved remission, while the other showed significant clinical improvement.
Cryotherapy appears to be a promising option for managing localized skin tumors, particularly squamous cell carcinomas, either as a curative or palliative treatment.
