L’ulcère superficiel chronique (USC) se définit comme une perte de substance épithéliale (sans facteurs déclenchants ou aggravants) ne cicatrisant pas sous un délai d’environ 10 jours malgré la réalisation d’un traitement médical correctement conduit. Il nécessite donc une prise en charge bien spécifique.
Résumé
L’ulcère superficiel chronique est une affection fréquente en ophtalmologie canine reposant sur l’apparition d’anomalies structurelles du complexe épithélio-basal. Son diagnostic se base sur une démarche rigoureuse et systématisée, et sa prise en charge est avant tout chirurgicale. Le choix du traitement dépend du matériel à disposition et des préférences du praticien et doit permettre le rétablissement d’un épithélium sain et pérenne, une fois la cicatrisation avérée.
Abstract
Non-healing corneal ulcer is a common clinical finding in canine ophthalmology emerging upon structural anomalies of the epithelio-basal complex. Its diagnosis requires a rigorous examination and a step-by-step approach and the treatment is straight away surgical. Based upon surgeon habits and instrumentation, the surgical approach must enable a persistent reepithelialisation.
